MANCHESTER, N.H. (AP) - A panel of editorial cartoonists and scholars is exploring satire across culture, artistic freedom, First Amendment rights and other issues.

The panel is appearing at a public forum Wednesday evening at Saint Anselm College and at a conference at the University of New Hampshire on Thursday.

The topic is, “Can’t Take A Joke? The Transformative and Incendiary Power of the Editorial Cartoon.”

In the wake of deadly terrorist attacks on cartoonists in Denmark and France, New Hampshire Humanities is using the occasion of the Pulitzer Prize Centennial to reflect with prize-winning editorial cartoonists Signe Wilkinson and Joel Pett and humanities scholars Jytte Klausen and Victor Navasky on the relationship between risk assessment and freedom of speech in journalism.
