GARY, Ind. (AP) - A Purdue University graduate with experience in the Chicago area has been hired as the new general manager of Gary/Chicago International Airport.

The (Munster) Times (https://bit.ly/1YYGYHF ) reports Michael Zonsius was introduced at a meeting of the Gary/Chicago International Airport Authority on Monday. He was hired after a six-month search process and succeeds Delbert Brown, who resigned in August from the position.

Zonsius will work for AvPorts, the airport’s private operator. He was most recently chief financial officer for the Chicago Department of Aviation and was involved with an expansion of the Gary airport, serving as the department’s liaison to the project.

Zonsius was also previously deputy director of finance and administration at what’s now known as Chicago Executive Airport.
