SAN ANTONIO (AP) - The Bexar (bayr) County’s Sheriff’s Office says that a deputy will be terminated after he was indicted on several charges related to an assault of an inmate.

A news release from the sheriff’s office said that Ricardo Gonzales was indicted Tuesday on charges of assault causing bodily injury, civil rights violations, and official oppression. Gonzales, who was arrested Tuesday night, is accused of hurting an inmate while he was working at the Bexar County Jail.

Gonzales, who was assigned to the detention division since 2004, faces up to one year in jail and up to $4,000 for each charge.

It was not immediately clear if Gonzales has an attorney to speak on his behalf.
