HUDSON, Mass. (AP) - A state trooper who died following a crash on the Massachusetts Turnpike will be laid to rest next week.

State Police said Thursday that a wake will be held on Monday for Thomas Clardy in his hometown of Hudson. A funeral for the 44-year-old Marine Corps veteran and father of six has been scheduled for Tuesday, Times and locations have not yet announced.

Clardy had stopped a car for a traffic violation in Charlton Wednesday when his cruiser was hit by another vehicle that investigators say had swerved across all three travel lanes without slowing.

The driver of that car, 30-year-old David Njuguna of Webster, is hospitalized with serious injuries. He faces a charge of negligent operation of a motor vehicle and a marked lane violation.
