BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - Jefferson County sheriff’s officials say nearly 100 illegal gambling machines were seized during raids at two businesses.

Sheriff’s spokesman Randy Christian said in a statement that investigators searched two businesses in Brighton Wednesday afternoon and found illegal gambling machines inside.

Christian says the sheriff’s department began investigating the businesses in western Jefferson County on Monday after hearing complaints from residents. Officials from the Alabama Attorney General’s Office helped execute the search warrants.

Christian says 60 machines were seized from one business and 30 were taken from another.

Authorities say the investigation is ongoing and arrests are pending.
