TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) - Running back Chris Johnson is returning to the Arizona Cardinals, agreeing to terms on a one-year contract.

Johnson revived his career last season, leading Arizona with 814 yards rushing even though he missed the final five games of the season with a fractured bone just below his left knee. He averaged 4.2 yards per carry and his four 100-yard rushing games were the most by a Cardinals player since 1985.

The 30-year-old Johnson chose to return to Arizona even though he won’t be the featured back. David Johnson is expected to fill that role after his strong performance as a rookie in Chris Johnson’s absence.

Chris Johnson’s comeback last season came after he was wounded in a March drive-by shooting in Orlando that killed an acquaintance.
