GREELEY, Colo. (AP) - Police in Greeley are investigating the death of a woman found in a trunk in the home of a man on parole.

Two parole officers found the body during a routine surprise home visit to 53-year-old David Wayne Batty on Wednesday. Police say the trunk was in a closet in his apartment.

The woman hasn’t been identified yet and an autopsy will be done to determine how she died.

Batty was arrested on parole violations and is being held in jail.

The Colorado Department of Corrections confirmed that Batty is on parole but won’t release any details about his sentence and previous offenses.

Court records show Batty was convicted of assault in 2011 in Weld County. His lawyer in that case didn’t return a call seeking comment
