GREENFIELD, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities say an all-terrain vehicle crash in upstate New York has left a 12-year-old boy dead.

Saratoga County deputies say they were called to Greenfield just before 5:30 p.m. Thursday and found William Wardell seriously injured. He was taken to a hospital, where he later died.

Authorities say the boy was riding his ATV with friends when it rolled backward off a hill and ejected him. He was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

The incident is under investigation.
