SLIDELL, La. (AP) - Authorities say a former Slidell High School teacher has been arrested.

Multiple media outlets report that the Slidell Police Department says in a statement that Police Chief Randy Smith will hold a news conference Friday morning to announce the arrest.

Police say no further details will be given until then.

In a letter posted Thursday on the school’s website, principal William C. Percy tells parents that administrators learned of allegations involving inappropriate behavior and immediately contacted police.

Percy says in the letter that the person is no longer an employee of the St. Tammany Parish Public School System. He says the school system is cooperating with police as the investigation continues.
