WAYNESBURG, Pa. (AP) - The Greene County coroner has identified the victim of a fatal house fire that occurred last week in southwestern Pennsylvania’s Springhill Township.

The Observer-Reporter reports (https://bit.ly/22rANOd ) 53-year-old David Riley died of smoke inhalation when he couldn’t escape the blaze that broke out at his Moreford Road home on March 10.

The state police fire marshal’s office at the Washington barracks says the cause of the fire remains undetermined because of the severe damage sustained by the structure. The blaze was not considered suspicious at the time.

Riley made headlines last June when he shot a burglar in self-defense after the intruder broke into the residence and threatening him with a crowbar.
