GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) - A Greenville County man will spend the rest of his life in prison without a chance of parole after being convicted of murder in the shooting death of his wife.

Local media outlets report that 48-year-old John Calvin Sledge was convicted and sentenced Wednesday.

Authorities say he shot Kimberly Sledge in the back of the head with a handgun at their home in January 2014. It happened during an argument between the couple.

Authorities say that Sledge was arrested when he drove to a convenience store to buy beer.
