LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - Taveion Hollingsworth scored 12 of his game-high 16 points in the second half to help Paul Laurence Dunbar rally to defeat Bowling Green 57-51 in a KHSAA Boys’ Sweet 16 tournament quarterfinal Friday.

Dunbar (31-6), the 11th Region champion, fell behind by 14 points in the first quarter and trailed by 10 at halftime but scored 15 straight points in the third quarter to pass 4th Region champion Bowling Green (31-3) on its way to the semifinals.

The Bulldogs, who will play Newport Central Catholic on Saturday, took their first lead with 2:42 left in the third quarter on a 3-point goal by Jordan Lewis and never trailed again.

Bowling Green, last season’s state runner-up, had two scoring droughts of about 4 1/2 minutes each in the second half after shooting 67 percent from the field in the first.

Kyran Jones scored 14 points to lead the Purples.
