MEDFORD, Ore. (AP) - The city of Medford has a new police chief.

The Mail Tribune reports (https://is.gd/6nLhul) that the City Council voted 8-0 Thursday night to appoint Randy Sparacino. He rose to the top more than 25 years after he was initially hired as a Medford police bike cadet.

Sparacino holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Southern Oregon University. He has worked as a patrol officer, field training officer, patrol sergeant, financial investigation section sergeant, internal affairs sergeant, patrol lieutenant and administrative lieutenant.
