PIKEVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Bledsoe County’s sheriff has jailed his own 26-year-old son on drug, gun and assault charges.

The Chattanooga Times Free Press (https://bit.ly/1TTAri1 ) reports that deputies say they found 11.1 grams of methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia and a loaded weapon when they raided James Michael Morris’ Pikeville home on March 12.

Morris is being held on numerous charges, including possession and manufacturing of a controlled substance.

Sheriff Jimmy Morris says he accompanied deputies when they went to his son’s home but stayed back to allow them to do their jobs unfettered.

The sheriff says he thinks his son is a good man, but he is not above the law.

It is unclear whether the suspect has an attorney.
