SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - State officials say the jobless rate in Utah held steady last month.

Numbers released by the state’s Department of Workforce Services on Friday show the unemployment rate in February was 3.4 percent, the same as it was this time last year.

That’s also where Utah’s jobless rate hovered in late 2008 before the economic recession.

The state’s unemployment rate is still far below the national jobless rate, which sits at about 4.9 percent.

Workforce Services says about 50,100 Utah residents were unemployed but looking for work.
