TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - Two people have died and a third is injured after a car struck a pole in Tucson.

Arizona Department of Public Safety spokesman Quentin Mehr says the collision happened on I-10 at about 10:40 a.m. Saturday.

According to DPS, the man driving the vehicle lost control near the Prince Road exit for an unknown reason.

Mehr says the driver died at the scene.

KGUN-TV in Tucson reports (https://bit.ly/1UrytFB ) two female passengers who suffered critical injuries were taken to the hospital.

One later died.

The condition of the third was not immediately known.

Mehr says the identity of the deceased has not been released pending family notification.

The cause of the collision is under investigation.
