ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - Police say a security guard shot and wounded a man trying to break into a car outside an Albuquerque hotel.

Officer Simon Drobik says the shooting happened just before 6 a.m. at a Holiday Inn Express.

According to Drobik, the guard found the suspect allegedly trying to get into a car on the property.

A confrontation ensued and the suspect pulled out a weapon.

Police say the suspect then got closer to the guard, who fired his weapon.

The suspect is listed in stable condition at a hospital but faces numerous felony charges.

Drobik says police interviewed the guard and he was released.
