COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) - Daejah Bernard had 17 points and eight rebounds as Benton defeated Mary Institute and St. Louis Country Day School 41-34 in double overtime to capture Missouri’s Class 4 girls basketball championships.

Bernard scored 14 points after halftime and also recorded six steals and five assists, both team highs.

Kylee Williams scored 17 points for the Cardinals, shooting 5 of 8 from 3-point range, while the rest of the team shot a combined 2 of 12 from long distance.

Rachel Thompson led the way for the Rams, scoring 10 points and six rebounds. Taylor Iverson Baur scored nine points and added a team-best 10 rebounds while blocking three shots.

The Rams outshot Benton despite the loss, making 12 of 38 field goal attempts while the Cardinals shot just 10 of 40 from the field. Perimeter shooting was the difference in the game as Benton made 7 of 20 attempts while the Rams shot just 3 of 15.
