HONOLULU (AP) - A law prohibiting certain airport performances isn’t stopping a guitarist from playing his music for traveling crowds.

KHON-TV reports (https://bit.ly/1TSSZyV) Ledward Kaapana was plucking his guitar for travelers at Honolulu International Airport’s Hawaiian Airlines gate last week when a security guard told him to stop.

Kaapana says he’s been performing at airports around the world for years and that he was surprised when the guard approached him.

State Department of Transportation spokesman Tim Sakahara says the law prohibits the use of musical instruments in public airports.

Sakahara said the security guard was doing his job. He said Kaapana is a great musician whose talents are appreciated, and that no offense was intended.

Kaapana says he won’t stop his airport performances, having just given one in Maui.
