BUFFALO, Iowa (AP) - Police in eastern Iowa say a robbery suspect being transported to a treatment center assaulted the officer driving him, then stole the officer’s vehicle.

The Quad-City Times reports (https://bit.ly/1nXypzb ) that the man was being transported from Buffalo to a Davenport center Friday night after having been arrested on robbery charges.

Police say the man broke out the rear window of the transport vehicle and assaulted the Buffalo officer driving. The officer suffered minor injuries.

The man then gained control of the vehicle keys and drove it through Muscatine County while being chased by the Muscatine County Sheriff’s Department, the Muscatine Police Department and the Iowa State Patrol. The chase ended in Muscatine County, and the suspect captured. He faces multiple charges
