SAN ANTONIO (AP) - Authorities are investigating after a man’s body was found burning in a field in San Antonio’s east side.

Officers responded to a call about a grass fire Thursday night and discovered that the body was on fire.

San Antonio Police Department Sgt. Dave Berrigan said that the man’s clothes were burned off and there was a strong odor of gasoline in the area. He also said that there were signs that the man, who appears to be in his 20s or 30s, had been burned alive.

Authorities say the man’s distinctive tattoos should help them learn his identity.
