EASLEY, S.C. (AP) - Authorities say a 51-year-old woman has been charged with murder after she killed her husband and then tried to make it look like a suicide.

Pickens County deputies said Rebecca Easterling called 911 around 4:15 a.m. Friday and said her 49-year-old husband had shot himself in the head at an Easley home.

Sheriff Rick Cark said in a statement that deputies had questions about Easterling’s story and arrested her after several hours of investigation. Clark did not say why his detectives were suspicious of Easterling.

Easterling lives in Greenville, but the shooting happened at a home in Easley.

Easterling is being held in the Pickens County jail without bond. It wasn’t known if she had a lawyer.
