BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) - Authorities say a 24-year-old woman was killed and six other people were injured when an SUV veered off Highway 59 and plunged into a ravine near Miles City.

Montana Highway Patrol trooper Brandon Kelm tells The Billings Gazette (https://bit.ly/1VPJ6zz ) the SUV was carrying four adults and four children when it crashed Tuesday afternoon. Kelm says the driver overcorrected after the SUV went off the road, causing the vehicle to roll into a deep ravine.

Regina Ray Romero, of Poplar, was ejected and died at the scene. Six people were taken to the hospital.

Several agencies responded to the scene, including the Custer County Sheriff’s Office, the Montana Department of Transportation and the Broadus Fire Department.

The crash remains under investigation.
