MASHPEE, Mass. (AP) - A 13-year-old boy was killed after he was hit by a car at an intersection in Mashpee.

The Cape Cod Times (https://bit.ly/1OQivN0) reports the boy was struck around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Police haven’t released the boy’s identity.

Barnstable Public Schools Superintendent William Butler says the boy was a student at Barnstable Intermediate School and lived in Centerville.

The driver was a 55-year-old man from Mashpee. There’s no word on whether he’ll face charges.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
