OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) - Authorities say an airport baggage handler is facing prison time after helping put nine pounds of methamphetamine on a flight.

The San Francisco Chronicle reports (https://bit.ly/1T7L0gM ) that Acting U.S. Attorney Brian Stretch says 32-year-old Siosiua Fihaki of Hayward was sentenced Tuesday to more than nine years in prison.

The former Oakland International airport employee pleaded guilty in December to distributing meth.

Officials say Fihaki confessed that he carried a duffel bag of methamphetamine into the checked luggage area of a Honolulu-bond plane in May 2014.

U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration agents seized the bag in Honolulu.

Fihaki’s sentence includes a three-year period of supervised relief.
