STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) - The president and CEO of a central Pennsylvania health system is retiring.

The Centre Daily Times reports (https://bit.ly/1oNaWkW ) that Steve Brown will step down from his positions at the State College-based Mount Nittany Health on Nov. 1. He has served both roles since 2010.

Board Chairman James Brown says Steve Brown will work closely with the board to help find a successor. An executive search firm is also expected to be hired to work with a search committee.

Mount Nittany Health expanded under Brown’s tenure, now covering six counties and roughly a half-million people.

Brown was named the 2015 Renaissance Fund honoree in November for his work in expanding health care opportunities in the region as well as for his involvement with various groups and organizations in the community.
