GOLDEN POND, Ky. (AP) - Land Between The Lakes National Recreation Area is offering grants to public school districts in Kentucky and Tennessee for student field trips.

The grants are for the 2016-17 school year, and applications must be in by April 30.

The grants help pay for transportation, facility admission feeds, program costs and dorm rental. Awards are based on school matching funds, number of students, family income levels and programs the school plans to participate in during the visit.

Land Between The Lakes said in a news release that educational programs are designed to support Kentucky and Tennessee state K-12 curriculum guidelines for science, social studies, and arts and humanities.
