WASHINGTON (AP) - Connor McDavid and Jack Eichel were among those selected to the 23-and-under Team North America roster for the upcoming World Cup of Hockey.

The top two picks from the 2015 draft will be teammates for the first time as part of the all-star combination of American and Canadian players. They’re joined by rookie of the year front-runner Dylan Larkin, 2015 Calder Trophy winner Aaron Ekblad and goaltender John Gibson.

Forwards Alex Galchenyuk of the Montreal Canadiens and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins of the Edmonton Oilers and defenseman Shayne Gostisbehere of the Philadelphia Flyers were the most notable players left off the initial 16-man roster unveiled Wednesday.

Canada and the United States are the only teams that have not yet announced their rosters for the best-on-best tournament that starts Sept. 17 in Toronto.
