GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) - A baby monkey born two weeks ago at the Greenville Zoo has died.

Zoo administrator Jeff Bullock told local media outlets Tuesday that the cause of death of the Angolan Colobus monkey won’t be known until the results of tests come back.

It was the first baby for a female monkey named Nuru.

Bullock says there’s a chance there was a congenital condition that zoo workers could not see based on their observations. He says the zoo workers are monitoring the mother for signs of depression.

The monkey’s father had fathered three other offspring with another mate.
