SALYERSVILLE, Ky. (AP) - A temporary traffic light is being installed on the Mountain Parkway in eastern Kentucky.

The light is being put up near the Kentucky 30 interchange and Salyersville as work continues on an expansion of the Mountain Parkway.

The light is about 500 feet west of the Kentucky 30 interchange. It’s to allow large trucks to haul excavation waste material from one side of the parkway to a dumping area on the opposite side of the roadway.

A news release about the expansion says traffic stoppages will be frequent but brief.

The light is expected to be in place about four weeks.

The project involves a 46-mile improvement, widening 30 miles of the parkway from two lanes to four lanes and extending the parkway another 16 miles between Salyersville and Prestonsburg.
