CLARKSBURG, W.Va. (AP) - An inmate at a federal prison in West Virginia has been indicted in another inmate’s death.
A federal grand jury in Clarksburg indicted 36-year-old Marricco Sykes on a first-degree murder charge Tuesday. Sykes is an inmate at the Federal Correctional Institution at Hazelton.
The Exponent Telegram (https://bit.ly/1OMReuM) reports Sykes is accused of strangling 60-year-old Hazelton inmate Zakii Wahiid on Nov. 6.
Prosecutors say the charge carries a maximum penalty upon conviction of the death penalty or life imprisonment.
Sykes was due to be released from Hazelton later this month after serving a sentence of more than 18 years for carrying a firearm during two 1997 armed robberies in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
