GLASTONBURY, Conn. (AP) - A day care worker in Glastonbury has been charged with hitting, restraining and roughly handling several children over the past year.

Glastonbury police said Monday that they have charged 22-year-old Nicole Mayo, of Wethersfield, with three counts of felony risk of injury to a minor and disorderly conduct.

Authorities say they began an investigation in December after receiving a complaint from the state Department of Children and Families about allegations involving Mayo at The Stork Club day care. Police say they found probable cause that Mayo mistreated several 2-year-old children.

Mayo posted $65,000 bail and was ordered to appear in Manchester Superior Court on April 6.

A phone listing for Mayo could not be found. It’s not clear if she has a lawyer who could respond to the allegations.
