HAWTHORNE, Calif. (AP) - Los Angeles County authorities say a driver killed in a car-to-car shooting that left two of his passengers wounded was a 20-year-old from San Bernardino County.

The coroner’s office says William Fifita of Adelanto died early Sunday at the scene in the city of Hawthorne.

Sheriff’s officials are searching for suspects in the shooting that happened as the victims were returning from a church function in Torrance.

Fifita was driving a Volkswagen Jetta that stopped at a red light on Rosecrans Avenue when a dark-colored sedan pulled alongside and someone inside opened fire.

Fifita was killed. Two male passengers were hospitalized in unknown condition. Another Jetta passenger, a woman, was uninjured.

Investigators have not identified a possible motive or released suspect descriptions.
