PITTSBURGH (AP) - A suspended teaching assistant has pleaded guilty to charges of having sexual relationships with five teenage students at a western Pennsylvania high school and trying to have sex with another.

Forty-nine-year-old Michelle Mellinger of White Oak entered the plea Monday in Allegheny County to five counts of institutional sexual assault as well as statutory sex assault and attempted institutional sex assault.

Mellinger will be sentenced June 1 but must immediately register as a sex offender and must continue to do so for life.

Authorities said the former special education class assistant sent text messages to the McKeesport Area High School teens between June 2013 and February and drove them to her apartment and another residence for sex.

Authorities said the students ranged in age from 15 to 17 years old.
