KEY BISCAYNE, Fla. (AP) - Officials say the body of a missing boater has been found near Key Biscayne.

Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission spokesman Lorenzo Veloz tells media outlets that searchers discovered the body of 31-year-old Paul Flowers Monday.

Officials say Flowers, who was from New York, went missing Sunday evening after jumping into the water from a boat near Nixon Beach to help another boat that was caught on the rocks.

Veloz says Flowers was one of 16 people who had gone out that day on two rental boats when one of the boat’s anchors got stuck. Flowers, who was not wearing a life vest, and another man jumped in to help free the boat. The other man was rescued.

Veloz says the bad weather likely played a role in Flowers’ death.
