PRESCOTT, Ariz. (AP) - A woman convicted of killing her husband in Prescott nearly 14 years ago has been sentenced to life in prison.

Yavapai County prosecutors say 65-year-old Jane Carpenter was sentenced Thursday and must serve 25 years in prison before she can be considered for parole.

A county Superior Court jury found her guilty of first-degree murder last month.

Prosecutors say 71-year-old retired commercial artist Brent Carpenter was found stabbed and beaten to death in the couple’s shared home in the Yavapai Hills development on June 4, 2002.

The case then went cold for years before Prescott police investigators worked with Indiana state police in 2012 to locate Jane Carpenter and charge her in the murder case.
