CANTON, Mich. (AP) - Officials in the western Detroit suburb of Canton have scheduled a public forum on the community’s water and sewer rates.

The forum will be held Tuesday in Canton’s Administration Building board room.

Officials say in a release that it is “designed to show residents how water and sewer rates are calculated and to answer questions regarding the 2016 rates.”

Residents also will have the opportunity to discuss water quality in the community.

Rates for 2016 rates are expected to increase in Canton by seven percent and will take effect May 1.
