WATERVILLE, Maine (AP) - The Federal Aviation Administration will provide more than $400,000 for improvements to three local airports in Maine.
Knox County Regional Airport is set to receive the largest grant at $150,000. The money would fund an environmental assessment to evaluate facets of a runway safety project.
Brunswick Executive Airport will receive more than $116,000 for rehabilitation to 16,000 feet of runway and taxiway.
Waterville Robert LaFleur Airport is slated to get more than $135,000 to improve protection on runway approaches.
Rep. Chellie Pingree, a Democrat, announced the funding. She says the grants will help maintain the airports without tapping into local taxes.
