MESA, Ariz. (AP) - Police in Mesa say three kidnapping victims have been rescued unharmed and a 16-year-old boy has been arrested as a suspect.

The kidnapping occurred late Wednesday at a Mesa apartment. The victims were later found at a home in Phoenix.

According to police, the victims were a 17-year-old boy, a 3-year-old boy and a woman who was their baby sitter.

Police won’t be releasing the name of the teenage suspect unless he’s transferred to adult court.

They say the boy has been booked into a juvenile jail on suspicion of three counts of kidnapping and one count each of aggravated assault and being a minor in possession of a firearm.

Police say they don’t believe the victims were randomly selected and the motive for the kidnapping appears to be drug-related.
