MINOT, N.D. (AP) - Minot police are investigating the theft of copper electrical wire from a business.

Police say the owner of Gefroh Electric called and reported the theft from their business on Monday. The theft occurred sometime over the weekend.

Police say a hole was cut in a fence and more than $2,500 worth of wire was taken from the company’s yard.

Thieves often sell the copper to scrapyards for cash.

Police say the theft is under investigation.
