CAWOOD, Ky. (AP) - Kentucky State Police have arrested a man in connection with possible human remains found in Harlan County.

Police say in a news release that 27-year-old Michael Curtis was arrested Tuesday and charged with murder, tampering with evidence and abuse of a corpse. Curtis’s wife, 30-year-old Kayla Curtis, faces the same charges.

Police say possible human remains were found Tuesday morning in a wooded area near Cawood. Investigators believe the killing may be related to the disappearance of 49-year-old Tommy Ingersoll, who has been missing since March 10.

Police say Ingersoll was last seen at a Harlan gas station with Michael Curtis and an unidentified woman. Police say Curtis also lives near the location where the remains were found.

It’s unclear whether Kayla and Michael Curtis have attorneys.
