LAKE FOREST, Ill. (AP) - Investigators have been unable to determine what caused a Megabus to burst into flames in northern Illinois last month.

The Lake Forest Fire Department says in a report that the extent of the damage and a lack of expertise on the vehicle involved prevented its investigators from identifying the cause.

None of the 40 passengers was injured in the Feb. 21 fire on the bus, which was headed from Chicago to Minneapolis.

The report written by Lt. Stephen Grost says the fire appears to have started in the lower right rear of the bus.

The Chicago Tribune reports (https://trib.in/22IFkfo ) that the bus driver told firefighters he pulled over after a tire blew out and another failed. The driver saw the fire when he went to check the rear tires.
