SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) - De’Anthony Melton had 24 points, 17 rebounds, two steals and two blocked shots as Crespi Carmelite beat Berkeley 68-53 Thursday to win the CIF Boys Division I state title.

Melton had zero points in the first quarter. The teams were tied 13-13 right after the third quarter started but Melton scored 11 points on Crespi’s 21-10 run.

Mitchell Mykhaylov added 19 points and 13 rebounds while sophomore Brandon Williams scored 16 points and pulled in seven rebounds for the Crespi Celts (33-4), who won their second state championship.

Niles Malone’s 18 points, Sean Spikes’ 14 points and Ben Baker’s 12 points led the Berkeley Yellow Jackets (24-9).

Crespi led 34-23 at the half.

Berkeley roared back to open the third quarter with a 13-2 run that tied the game at 36-36 but the Yellow Jackets could not take the lead.

Crespi stayed in control and opened up a 17-point margin late in the fourth quarter.
