CRETE, Neb. (AP) - The southeastern Nebraska town of Crete is getting some help from the federal government for planning improvements to its city water system.

Crete will receive a $30,000 USDA Rural Development predevelopment planning grant. The city will pitch in $10,000 for the project.

USDA Rural Development Community Programs Specialist Luann Brown says the planning approach will document the city’s current and future water infrastructure needs. The money will be used to create computer-assisted scenarios to analyze the economic and environmental effect of recommended upgrades.
