AUGUSTA, Ga. (AP) - A Georgia man wounded by gunfire has gone from the hospital straight to jail after being charged with murder.

The Augusta Chronicle reports (bit.ly/1UpBBCn) 33-year-old Kevin Leslie was booked into the Richmond County jail Thursday after being released from Augusta University Medical Center.

Authorities charged Leslie in the fatal shooting of 22-year-old Deshaun Johnson on March 15. Sheriff’s deputies responding to a call found Johnson dead from at least one gunshot wound.

Authorities say they later found Leslie at the hospital in critical condition as he was being treated for a bullet to his chest.

Other charges against Leslie include aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during commission of a crime and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. It was not immediately known if Leslie had an attorney.
