GOSHEN, N.Y. (AP) - A 30-year-old man has been convicted in the 2014 beating death of a 77-year-old shoe repair shop owner inside his upstate New York business.

The Times Herald-Record of Middletown reports (https://bit.ly/1PuF3mJ ) an Orange County jury took an hour Thursday to find Dennis McBee guilty of murder in the death of Josef Kucher.

Prosecutors say McBee waited for Kucher to be alone so he could beat him to death and steal cash. Authorities say security footage showed McBee entering Kucher’s store and leaving a few minutes later. Kucher was found bloodied and dazed by a customer and later died from his injuries.

Defense attorney Michael Ferraro had argued that prosecutors failed to prove the robbery had happened.

McBee faces 25 years to life behind bars when he’s sentenced on May 4.
