BERKELEY TOWNSHIP, N.J. (AP) - Authorities have arrested an Ocean County juvenile justice officer on charges of selling heroin and cocaine near a school.

Berkeley Township police say 35-year-old Erica Kotelnicki was apprehended Tuesday in the parking lot of a pharmacy, which was near the Bayville Elementary School. Police say she had heroin in her possession. More heroin, cocaine, scales and cash were found at her home in the Bayville section.

Police Chief Karin DiMichele says in a statement that officials don’t believe Kotelnicki was selling drugs while working at the juvenile detention center in Toms River. However, the investigation is ongoing.

Kotelnicki is held in the Ocean County jail on $125,000 bail. It’s not known if she has hired a lawyer who can comment on the charges.

This story has been corrected to change day of arrest to Tuesday instead of Thursday.
