PICKENS, S.C. (AP) - A Clemson man has been found guilty of murder in the shooting death of another man who was sitting on a riding lawnmower.

The Greenville News reports (https://grnol.co/1RkoOOT ) that a Pickens County jury convicted 57-year-old Darby Lee Burnside on Thursday. He was sentenced to 30 years in prison.

Burnside had been charged in the August 2014 shooting death of James Junior Cherry.

Prosecutors say Cherry was shot while he was on his riding lawnmower in the defendant’s yard. They said the shooting resulted from an argument over work that Cherry had performed for the defendant but was never paid for.

Cherry was not armed.
