DAVENPORT, Iowa (AP) - Authorities say moderate flooding is expected in Davenport by the time the Mississippi River crests more than a foot above flood stage.

The National Weather Service says the river is expected to crest at 16.3 feet Tuesday - 1.3 feet above the flood stage of 15 feet. Flood stage is expected to be reached Sunday.

City staffers are preparing flood protection at Modern Woodmen Park. At 16 feet floodwaters reach the lowest portion of the park’s floodwall.

Sandbags are available at the sewer plant for South Concord Street residents.
