URBANA, Ohio (AP) - An Ohio man accused of fatally beating a 4-year-old boy while he was supposed to be caring for several children has pleaded guilty to murder.

Michael Stapleton faces a mandatory sentence of life in prison with possible parole after 15 years. A message seeking comment was left Friday for his attorney.

The boy, Brett Jaynes II, was found unresponsive Nov. 2 in his North Lewisburg home, about 35 miles northwest of Columbus. He died that day at a Columbus hospital.

Stapleton had been living with Jaynes and his family and was watching the boy and several other children.

Stapleton was accused of beating the boy with a belt, causing his death. Stapleton had been indicted in December on nine counts.

He also pleaded guilty Friday to an unrelated burglary charge.
